Introducing IPD
Health tourism or medical tourism means traveling to receive health and wellness services. The idea of the first medical trips came to the minds of patients when the citizens of a country made a smart decision to travel to other countries for treatment and receiving medical services due to reasons such as the lack of necessary medical facilities or the high cost of a particular surgery.
Health tourism in Iran in its current form was first noticed by the Ministry of Health, Treatment and Medical Education in 2012 and a year later it attracted the attention of the Organization of Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts and Tourism. In the same year, the first steps were taken to develop medical tourism in Iran. With the significant potential that Iran has in all types of health tourism, including medicine, wellness and naturopathy, it has made significant progress and achieved many achievements in the past few years.
